AT FORTY

So great how time disappears, just like yesterday. That small baby is now an adult who is now seeing to her mother's needs. First, let's thank God for seeing her through to this day, bomb blasts have wiped some out while the others genocide. We praise the Lord for being there.
Who's this beautiful and blessed lady that I'm writing about? It is the 'Gateway State'. Forty years ago, February 3rd, 1976, a state: with Abeokuta being her capital, was created by the then head of state- Late General Muritala Muhammed alongside other ten states: Abuja, Bauchi, Benue, Borno, Imo, Niger, Ondo, Oyo, Plateau and Sokoto. It is bordered by Oyo and Osun to the north, Lagos to the south, and Republic of Benin and Ondo to the west and east respectively. It has a respectable and remarkable green outline; land and mineral resources in abundance. The level of peace, harmony and security is 100, though there is always going to be faults.
She also has four major daughters: Remo, Ijebu, Yewa(Egbado), Egba; she has twenty local governments. They speak Ijebu, Egba, Awori, and Egun. After creation, Lt. Col. Seidu Ayodele Balogun was installed as the first military administrator and when democracy was restored, Late Chief Olabisi Onabanjo was elected as the first civilian governor. Alhaja Salimot Makanjuola Badru was the first female deputy governor; she worked with the former governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel. Senator Ibikunle Amosun is the present governor, Chief Yetunde Onanuga being is deputy and will be leaving office in 2019.
When it comes to excellence in education, she holds the best position; she has won the popular 'Cowbell Mathematics Competition' for five consecutive years, if not more. She is home to a number of prestigious schools that includes: Remo Secondary School, Ijebu-Ode Grammar School, Yewa College, and Abeokuta Grammar School as well as the popular Mayflower School and Iganmode Grammar School. She boasts of the highest number of tertiary institutions in the country.
She can be noted for housing a lot of things- the first cathedral, the first newpaper company, the first woman to drive a car, the first minister of finance, the first nobel laureate in Nigeria, the longest serving monarch in Nigeria, and on and on. A lot of notable people are her indigene- Chief Obafemi Awolowo, H.I.D. Awolowo,Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti, Olufela Anikulapo Kuti, Taiwo Solarin, Oba Kayode Adetona, Chief M.K.O. Abiola, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Wole Soyinka, Ola Rotimi, Salawa Abeni, Mike Adenuga, Professor Oluyemi Oluleke Osinbajo and so many others.
She doesn't lack when it comes to tourism. Olumo Rock and Lisabi Forest in Abeokuta, Bilikisu Sugbo Shrine in Oke-Eiri, Yemoji Natural Swimming pool in Ijebu-Ode, Orisagamu River pit in Sagamu and so many more are all the places you will want to see when you come around; not forgetting the two major rivers- Ogun and Yewa rivers. Her indigenes practice Islam, Christianity and the traditional religion.
Ogun State is the definition of tranquility. It's a place you will love. Forty years of existence, has not been so easy. The Gateway of Nigeria, I wish you unending existence in greatness and goodness. Peace and harmony forever. Happy Celebration!!!

BORN DAY

"My name is Ilelaboye Vivian Adebosola. I think my name suits me, I am wonderfully made, fearfully made, chosen and borne for greatness. Since my birth, He has showered me with favour and mercy even when I don't deserve them. All these prove that my names wonderfully fit me. I am short, though I don't know the measurements; dark and shinning. I am neither chubby nor lean, I can say that I am amid both. I am moderately built, I am not figure-eight-shaped but I have my special endowment(s). It's not pride, it's ME! My hair is wooly, I'm purely African but it's not too dark anyway. My iris are dark, my nose is the nubian type, though not too flat and my lips, small, of portable size and dark in colour. I can call myself fresh because I don't have much spots on my body, maybe because my best food, yam and egg, is fresh. I must not but talk about my personality. My attitude and reaction to people's actions may be considered weird but I understand myself. Sometimes, people expect me to act in some manner but I do the opposite. People think I am weird but I am definitely not, I am just unique. I appreciate my best friends for understanding me. I like order, cleanliness and sanity. I like people who dress well and rightly, especially when my best colours, pink and white, are involved. Furthermore, I am a lover of artistes, music and movies. I love Korean, Mexican and Nollywood movies specifically. I like Bollywood movies but I am not a big fan of Hollywood. Love, music and high school are the genres I love. I love Lara George and Frank Edwards because I love their outstanding gospel music. I like Nicki Minaj, Rihanna and Chris Brown, though to some extent. Others include Lee Min Ho, Kim Kardashian, Kyle Jenner and Mercy Johnson who happens to be my best celebrity. I'm not the religious type neither do I warm the bench in my Church. I attend The Apostolic Church, I love and fear God. I cannot but mention the wonderful parents God has given me. They have loved, cared and immensely contributed to my life. I am so proud of them. Conclusively, my life is not a simple or complex one. I am unique! I am God's chosen! I love my self and my principle is LOVE. God is love and I'm therefore a relative of love. I am no other person than little Adebisi and I am fearfully and wonderfully made". Today happens to her birthday and she happens to be the first female to feature in this segment. She shares her birthday with the likes of Mrs. Dora Akunyili, Osaze Odewinge, and so on.We wish her a happy birthday as well as long life and prosperity in good health and great heights. May the Lord be with her all through her days. Hip! Hip!! Hip!!! Note that your article will be posted the way you send it, only little editing will be done. You are free to write to extent as long as it is still on course. Thanks!!! Once again, happy birthday to you Ilelaboye Vivian Adebosola. Remain happy always.

BORN DAY

At last, the new segment has arrived. This segment will be for events ranging from birthdays to all other types. But for now, birthdays will be given more attention, meaning that you stand a chance to be celebrated in your birth month; a boy and a girl every month. All you do is write about yourself- you start with an introduction, followed by the body which will contain physical description of yourself and little about your family, your likes and dislikes, your best things like foods, clothes, artist, etc, words of appreciation to your parents, and then your conclusion. All these should be in paragraphs. After editing and/or proofreading, you send it to me in person, to my gmail- ogunphylum@gmail.com or to my facebook- Omojesu Longman Ogunphylum Oguntayo, and that's it. Your participation is highly required. If you guys are willing to work with me, the number might increase to accommodate many celebrants in a month. Today, we will be celebrating the first person who happens to be a guy. "On the seventh of July, a child was born and was given the name Ogundimu Temi. He grew up to be the first of four children. He grew to be tall not too thin nor huge. The Lord is always with him in all he did and he excelled in it. He has dynamic characters, from my views, he is unpredictable. He likes the good parts of life and forsakes the bad parts. He has no best thing because he believes that the Lord made the world so good. His family has always been there for him, they are the best thing God gave him. His friends are numerous taking to the fact that he is an extrovert. You can't know who he is unless you've met him. Don't assume, ask! He is the kind of person you will like to be with. GM.MP_GAB_MOS_BAGOG. Thanks". Today happens to be the birthday of someone we all know and since we won't be able to send gifts, I think we can send wishes to him. Happy birthday Temi, we all wish you long life and prosperity in good health and in great heights. We pray the Lord be with you all your days and that the Lord helps you fulfill your purpose on earth. Have a blast! We all wish you well. We also say happy birthday to those celebrating in this month and in this week. It's the day the Lord has truly made!
