Gloria was the most brilliant girl in my set. I can remember her saving the whole class during one Maths class. She even had the best waec result in my set. Apart from this, Gloria is very beautiful, nice, and caring. She is lively. I don't even know whether she has dull moments. Despite all these attributes, Gloria is crippled due to some complications at birth. But one time I caught her lamenting, "had it been I had legs"... A beautiful bird but cannot sing.
Yinka is a tall and very handsome boy in my sister's school. He has his own car. He is friendly with everybody and very humble. Despites all these Yinka is a dullard. According to my sister, he is the oldest in the class. Several times, he used to cry to my sister about not knowing what is wrong with him. He forgot things easily. But when it comes to drawing, sculpturing, and painting he is the best. "I just want to go to school, I want to learn, that was why I came; if not I would have stayed back", he said... A beautiful bird but cannot sing.
Many of us are just like Gloria and Yinka, we wish only if we had this or that our lives would be better. A friend of mine once said these- "Ife, we can't have everything. If we do, we will misuse it or we will always be wanting more." And that is the truth. Just take for example: if Gloria could walk, she being a brilliant and pretty lady might have developed pride from there things start taking a new course, she might even start flirting around and from there lose focus or even ruin her life. What of Yinka, had it been he was a brilliant guy, he would not have been the oldest in the class and wouldn't have been humble and might have lost himself. We can't have it all, the long hair, the beautiful and the handsome faces, the sonorous voice, displaying enviable prowess in art, and having all the fame. But the few ones you have, how often do you use it? Some don't even know the ones that exist. How do you use it to bless others? Don't see yourself as being weaker because you are stronger than what you or others can imagine. Look, you are unique, you are wonderful, you are you, there are more than a billion persons like you which is why you have to turn your weaknesses to great strengths. When that inferiority complex feeling start building up, just remember that you are way wonderful the way God made you such that without you something beautiful wouldn't happen to earth.
We all know the penguins, right? So beautiful but can't fly but still have a good life and exhibit dominance in their ecosystem. They see a lot of flying birds everyday but never allow that define them. No matter how extremely our of note your voice is, let your beauty speak for you; let it cause people to relate with you. Even though you can't sing, you are beautiful.
