Finally, Lent is knocking or about opening the door but before that, we have the St. Valentine's day. What is and was St. Valentine's day meant for? How do we celebrate it? Someone asked me recently, 'was Jesus the one that authorised the day or the dress code'? No! But if you read all the four books about Jesus, he placed emphasis on love.
I won't want to go into any history, but why is it that to virtually everyone not only youths the impression about the day is for making love not sharing or showing love. Everyone makes plan on how to be at the biggest joint in town not in church or at orphanages or at the homes of the needy. Until we realise that the best way to show love is by sharing, giving out and helping, St. Valentine's day is not it. So, I will urge us all that as we approach the day, we should make plans on how we will touch peole's lives with love 'in a positive way'. Let's stop all the trending hotels, bars, clubs and so on patronisation. Show and share some love.
